5 D.I.Y hair masks to treat damaged hair

Hair damage is possibly the worst thing that can happen to anyone. The feeling of dry, brittle strands of hair is horrific and it is definitely something that can be avoided. Homemade or natural hair masks are a great way to easily revive your hair without having to buy expensive hair products. These hair masks are also customizable to your needs!

01. To strengthen fine hair

If you are worried about your fine, brittle hair then the milk and honey mask is the perfect one for you. Honey is rich in keratine that will strengthen your hair and prevent breakage. Milk is rich in proteins and amino-acids that will soften the hair.

In a spray bottle combine a cup of milk and a tablespoon of honey. Spray it all over your hair until you feel your hair is wet with the mask. Use the mask after shampooing and leave It in for 10 to 20 minutes. Continue with conditioner to get soft and silky hair.

02. For hydration restoration

Lack of hydration? Then run to your kitchen to grab some bananas and some olive oil. Banana is a great way to provide hydration to dry and damaged hair. It is also filled with vitamins and minerals that will strengthen your hair. Olive oil is the holy grail for hydrating your hair. It will give you smooth, hydrated hair.

To make this mask, use one ripe banana and one tablespoon of olive oil. Blend the banana until it is smooth and then add the olive oil to make a frothy paste. Apply the mask in the shower as it can get quite messy. Massage your scalp and hair throughout with the mask. Leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes and rinse.

03. For split ends

Split ends are a result of weakening hair and can cause more damage if it is not taken care of in the early stages. The easiest solution for split ends is to cut them off. But if you are not ready to do that then you can easily make them look healthy with this avocado and olive oil mask.

Avocado is rich in proteins and vitamins that will soften the hair and olive oil helps to smoothen the hair. Mask or blend one-half of an avocado and then add half a cup of olive oil. Combine them and leave them on for half an hour.

04. For frizzy hair

Frizzy hair can be easily solved with just yogurt. The lactic acid in yogurt can help moisturize damage and prevent frizziness. When yogurt is used as a mask it also washes away dead skin cells and build-up. Yogurt can be mixed with avocado to strengthen the hair or lemon to help balance the pH of the scalp.

05. To remove buildup

Our hair routines are causing a lot of buildup in our scalps. Buildup can be caused by dry shampoo, hairspray, and other styling products. You can always use a clarifying shampoo or you can make this DIY mask with egg whites and lemon. Eggs are rich in protein and vitamins that will strengthen damaged hair. It also helps remove buildup which is great for oily hair types. Lemon can help balance the pH, build growth and help reduce hair loss.

Mix one egg white and the juice of one lemon. Apply it to clean, dry hair and scalp. Leave it on for one hour and rinse thoroughly.
